Can SilverTear Design fix or redesign my existing Web Site?

Certainly!  We will fix an existing web site if possible, or create a new design for you.  It may also be necessary to obtain a domain name and host the web site with a different company to eliminate long web site addresses, pop-up windows, ads, watermarks, etc.

How much will my Web Site cost?

The Design Fee - which SilverTear Design is very competitive on.

Web Hosting fee - We use top quality, affordable Web Hosting.   Generally for most sites - $25.00 per month or less, depending on your needs.   Virtual email address is included. (info@yourcompany.com).

Domain name (www.yourcompany.com) registration fee - $70.00 for 2 years, $35 a year thereafter.

Monthly Web Site maintenance fee - For a small Web Site this can be as little as $25 per month, larger sites a little more.

For E-Commerce Web Sites - Shopping cart monthly charge generally between $20-$30

Is there a Contract to sign?

Yes, we have a contract.

Will the cost of my Web Site be made clear to me before I sign?

Absolutely.  Our contract contains a "details and costs" sheet which describes all costs in detail.

When do I pay for the Web Site and what types of payment does SilverTear Design accept?

At the time of the contract signing, 50% of the design fee plus all third party costs are due.  The remainder of the design fee is due when the Web Site is completed.   At this time SilverTear Design accepts check, money order, or paypal as payment.

What is SilverTear Designs Complete Service?

SilverTear "Complete Service" is your assurance that we will work with you every step of the way in the development of your Web Site.  Our goal is to provide you with a professionally designed internet presence through your Web Site at a very reasonable cost.  We stand behind our work.

In addition to the design of your Web Site...

• We will obtain suitable Hosting.
• We will register your Domain Name.
• We will upload your Web Site to the server.
• We will arrange for all third party needs, and provide you with one itemized statement.

After design completion...

• We will work to ensure smooth site operation.
• We will professionally promote your Web Site with the major search engines.
• We will offer to keep the Site updated with data you supply.
• We will further develop the site if you desire.

How do I obtain Web Site Hosting (a home for my Web Site)?

SilverTear Design works with Web Hosting companies that are committed to top quality hosting service at a reasonable cost.  We will obtain the necessary hosting for your Web Site (we do not charge a fee for this service), and we will bill you for the hosting fees.

How do I obtain a virtual domain name (www.yourcompany.com)?

We will do a search on the names which you provide to us to determine their availability.  When an acceptable name has been determined to be available, we will register the name for you (we do not charge a fee for this service), and then bill you for the InterNIC registration fee of $70.00.

Why is it important to have a virtual web address as opposed to a non-virtual?

A virtual domain name allows you to have a shorter, more recognizable name.   Virtual would be something like: (www.yourcompany.com) Non-virtual would be more along the lines of (www.hostingcompanyname.com/yourcompany).  Your business name gets buried at the end of the address and is less recognizable.  Non-virtual names are used for personal or smaller non-profit organizations.

How do I obtain a virtual email address? (sales@yourcompany.com)?

You receive a virtual email address along with your Web Hosting account, along with unlimited aliases.  Additional virtual email addresses are available as well.

Will there be ads, a watermark or a pop-up window on my Web Site?

For most business Web Sites the answer would be no, but occasionally an organization may request a non-virtual server.  Generally these types of additions to a Web Site are associated with "fee" web hosting companies.  They make up for their losses in revenue by adding advertising in a variety of forms to the Web Site.   SilverTear Design uses Web Hosting companies that don't add any "extras" to the Site which allows for a clean, professional appearance.  We will however, use a non-virtual server is requested by a client.

Will SilverTear Design maintain my companies Web Site?

Absolutely!  This is a part of our Complete Service.

What can I put on my Web Site?

Generally text, company logo, other renderings such as artist sketches and CAD drawings, graphics, product images, other images.

What do I need to provide?

You will need to provide the following to us:

The text that will be contained in the pages of the Web Site, preferably in electronic form.  We can enter information from paper documents, but this will add to the design cost.

Company logo art or other renderings.  We have a scanning service if needed.

Are custom-designed graphics available?

These can be supplied by you, selected from our graphics library, professionally created by SilverTear Design or a third party hired for the purpose.

Will SilverTear take photographs to add to my website?

For local business we can discuss having a photo shoot taken either by SilverTear Design or a third party photographer hired for the purpose, depending on your needs.

What if I don't have a scanner?

You can mail (USPS)  the images to us and we will scan them for you for a small fee, or you could take them to a local print shop who can scan them, then you can send the images electronically or by mail (USPS).

How long will it take to complete my site?

This depends upon the complexity of the site.  Generally after we have received all the materials from you that will go on the site, a Web Site of approximately five pages will be completed in about a week.  Larger sites can take longer due to the increase in the work involved.

May things be changed and/or added to my Web Site down the road?

Yes!  This is a part of our Complete Service.  We will continue to work with you to further develop your Web Site.  This can be news releases, new products or service promotions, adding new products to an E-commerce Web Site or any other additions/updates.

How will SilverTear Design promote My Web Site?

SilverTear Design will professionally submit your Web Site to the major search engines as well as to many smaller search engines depending upon the package and/or needs of your Web Site.

I'm interested in an E-commerce Web Site.  How does it work? Is it safe?

An E-commerce Web Site will allow you to have your company's online store open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

You supply to us product images and the associated product information, in addition to the other required items described above.  We will use the product images and other data to create your online store.

Visitors to your Web Site can view the products and select one by clicking on an "add to cart" button which places the item in an electronic "shopping cart".  The customer can then continue shopping and add items to the shopping cart, view the shopping cart, delete items from the cart, etc.  When the customer is ready, they go to the check out and fill in the information necessary to process the order.

An email is sent to you notifying you of the transaction.  As the owner of the store, you will have either "real time" credit card processing (requiring an online merchant account) or have the credit card or other payment data sent to you in an email so you can process it manually.  You then ship the product to the customer.

Customer safety is our #1 concern!  The following measures are taken to ensure secure transactions online.

Verisign Digital Certificate.

All data passed between your customer and the shopping cart system is encrypted by a Verisign "high-assurance" Class 3 Digital Server ID.

Digital Server IDs allow web sites to identify themselves, and enable secure data communications between the customer and the shopping cart server.  IN fact, a Digital Server IS is necessary to establish Secure Socket Layer (SSL) connections, the technical backbone of the secure electronic backbone.

Additional measures are also taken to keep customer data secure - such as credit card information.

Further, the computers that process the shopping cart transactions are secure servers that have restricted access.

Will SilverTear create adult-oriented websites?

Yes, we create various types of, but reserve the right to decline any job without a reason given.  Depending upon the content, we may not provide a link to any adult-oriented site we create on our Portfolio page. 

Is it possible to complete the Web Site using the internet, telephone and snail mail (USPS), and never meet in person?

Yes!  In addition to the work we do within our geographic region, the use of email, snail mail (USPS) and the telephone, allow all aspects of the development of your Web Site to be completed with great success.
